Movie Review: Notorious

”Biggie, Biggie, Biggie can’t you see; your words hypnotize…” -Notorious BIG

Synopsis: This production is an attempt to recount the rise and fall of the once revered artist. Theatrical release was January 16, 2009 with box office take of almost $32 Million.

Bottom Line: The world of hip-hop was devastated with the death of  ”Big Poppa” almost a decade ago. If you are one of those affected by this, then RENT this movie. If not, you might enjoy the music or possibly gain more clarity into the East Vs West Coast drama but do not expect anything else.

Movie Review: Gran Torino

Clint Eastwood is one of the finest filmmakers of our time. He developed another movie that stimulates our sense of tradition and transforms our judgments on our older generations. “Gran Torino” released in theaters December 12, 2008 and grossed over 97 million dollars at the box office.

Synopsis: A Korean war veteran battles with his prejudices, death, and religion while reluctantly befriending many unlikely people in his neighborhood.

Bottom line: Clint Eastwood impressed me by delivering a movie that draws you into the relationship dynamics of the neighborhood.  This is definitely a parable for teenage children to see.

4 out of 5 Stars -This movie is many times better than some of the other Oscar nods.

Review: Movie - City of Ember

Based on the best-selling novel by Jeanne Duprau, the “City of Ember” movie is intriguing and different. The original release in theatres was October 10, 2008 and the DVD Release was January 20, 2009. ( Yes, forgive me I just got around to watching this movie.)

Synopsis: The ultimate doomsday scenario is played out by gathering a bunch of people and  making them live in an underground city. Implicit instructions not to leave until a 200 year count-down reached zero. Unfortunately the counter and information that it contained was lost with passing generations. Until the latest descendants of the original politicians and adventurers string clues together to find the truth about Ember City.

Bottom Line: This movie has an new take on the old doomsday plot and even some old hollywood talent but does not deliver a robust story. It seems to have the mysteries of  tv show “Lost” combined with undertones of the book “animal farm.”

Out of 5 stars, my ranking would be 3 stars.

American Marketing Association Video for Podcast

The Austin AMA and PRSA hosted a sunset cocktail cruise on the Lake Austin Party boat. Another sold out event and networking opportunity that was absolutely a blast. Photophoric Studios was there with camera in hand to record the event. After a few hours of editing and permission from the Will Evans project for the soundtrack, we have completed the web video!
